Dr Judy Dlamini

Dr Judy, the current Chancelor of the University of the Witwatersrand, is a medical doctor and has a doctorate in business leadership. She worked as a medical practitioner for 13 years starting at the King Edward VIII hospital, and later running a successful primary health care centre at the Umlazi township in Durban. During this period, she consulted for different businesses in occupational health, using her Diploma in Occupational Health obtained from University of Free State. After completing an MBA from Wits Business School, she spent two years at HSBC Investment Bank in the Corporate Finance & Advisory department in Johannesburg. She’s been in business for 28 years through the Mbekani Group that she founded in 1996, whilst still in medical practice.

Her past non-executive directorships include Discovery Holdings Ltd where she chaired the transformation and remuneration committees, Northam Platinum Ltd, Woolworths Holdings Limited and Anglo-American plc. She is former chair of Aspen Phamacare Limited and Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre (Pty) Ltd. She’s the current non-executive director at the SA SME Fund. She’s the co-founder of Sifiso Publishers, Future Nation Schools and Sifiso Learning Group. Establishing schools with her family inspired her to obtain a qualification in teaching which she obtained from Wits University in 2022.

Her philanthropic initiatives include Mkhiwa Trust, a family public benefit organisation that invests in education and rural development. She’s the Founder, Chairperson and Sponsor of Female Academic Leaders Fellowship (FALF) NPC., a public benefit organisation that develops a pipeline of black female academic leaders.

She’s authored two books and co-authored another two. She writes to inform and empower. Her first book which became a bestseller titled ‘Equal but Different’ was based on her doctoral thesis which investigated the impact of intersectionality on women leaders’ career progression which informed strategies for gender transformation at leadership level. She’s a mother, gogo, wife, and sister.

Prof. Samuel Wamba Fosso

Dr. Samuel Fosso Wamba is a Full Professor of information systems and data science and the Associate Dean of research at TBS Education, France. He is also a Distinguished Visiting Professor at The University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential researchers in business and management of recent years based on journal publications and citation impact. His research focuses on various cutting-edge technologies, including radio frequency identification (RFID), business analytics, big data, blockchain, metaverse, artificial intelligence (AI), and generative AI and has received several awards, including the Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management Journal (2017) and the Best Paper Awards from Electronic Market Journal (2017 and 2023). He is a CompTIA RFID+ Certified Professional and ranks in CDO Magazine's Leading Academic Data Leaders 2021.

Prof. Helen Duh

Prof. Helen Duh, the current Head of School of Business Sciences at University of the Witwatersrand, researches, develops projects, gets funding, and initiates international and African collaborations in the areas of consumer behaviour, social marketing, transformative consumer research, brand management and electronic marketing. On consumer behaviour, she conducts interdisciplinary research by delving into family, consumer, and social psychology to understand how childhood socio-psychological experiences affect later-life money attitudes, various consumption orientations (e.g., materialism, compulsive buying) and ultimate consumer psychological well-being. She also conducts research on consumer online shopping and decision-making styles related to fashion and retail products.

Dr. Relebohiseng Matubatuba

Dr. Relebohiseng Matubatuba is a Lecturer in the Marketing Division at the Wits School of Business Sciences. A Social Marketer at heart, Relebohiseng’s PhD in Marketing from the University of the Witwatersrand focuses on Drivers of Blood Donor Loyalty for societal wellness. Her research interests lie at the intersection of sustainability, societal well-being, social marketing, and digital technologies. Her work is particularly focused on understanding the behaviours of individuals and organisations in these fields, with a special interest in the role of women and youth to promote inclusivity and inclusive digital transformation. She is pragmatic in her approach and seeks to conduct research that is problem-centered, concerned with real-world practice, and aims to provide practical solutions that inform future practice.
