The Vice President of the Academy of African Business Development (AABD), Prof. Norma Juma and colleagues, have won the 2019 Emerald Literati Awards for their paper “Assessing cross -national invariance of the three- component model of organizational commitment: a cross-country study of university faculty” published in EuroMed Journal of Business. The award citation notes that the paper was chosen as “Outstanding Paper in the 2019 Emerald Literati Awards. Your article was chosen as a winner as it is one of the most exceptional pieces of work the team has seen throughout 2018.”
In the awarded paper, Juma and colleagues (2018) highlight the purpose of the paper as “to examine affective commitment, normative commitment, and continuance commitment in a cross-national context to identify if the effect of country-specific cultural orientation on organizational commitment of faculty in higher education functions invariably in different countries.” Their eventual findings show that “though certain differences may exist between different countries and cultures with respect to the three-component model of organizational commitment, there is strong evidence of the existence of invariance and, thus, generalizability of the model across cultures.
