President Akufo-Addo receives AABD Lifetime Achievement Award

 

On behalf of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee of the Academy of African Business and Development (AABD), AABD President, Prof. Simon P. Sigué, presented to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, the Lifetime Achievement Award for African Business and Development during the opening ceremony of the 22nd AABD Annual Conference hosted by the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Ghana, May 17-21, 2022.

 

 

His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, AABD and UPSA leadership team members, and Ghana Minister of Education.

This award recognizes President Akufo-Addo’s lifelong commitment to championing free secondary school education, trade, business, and economic development in Africa, particularly his exemplary leadership in the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area.  Not only was he the first signatory to the African Continental Free Trade Agreement on behalf of the Republic of Ghana in Kigali, Rwanda in March 2018, but he has played leading role in securing the decisions of the African Union (AU) Heads of State Summit on the essential implementation modalities of this agreement. Also, he provided strategic leadership in overseeing Ghana’s successful bid to host the Secretariat of African Continental Free Trade Area.

President Akufo-Addo is the second person to receive this highest honour from AABD after Ambassador Andrew Young in Atlanta, USA, in 2017.
